About Commissioned Portraits
I use reference photos provided by the client. Animals generally don't make great live models. Photos are sent digitally by e-mail to my studio. Clear, high resolution photos work best. I especially like to be able to see the eyes and your pet's expression. Those are what make a portrait special and not just a picture of any animal.
Time varies depending on the media and size of the artwork. For instance, a pencil drawing can be done within 5 days. An oil painting may take several weeks. Please plan ahead to allow me the time it takes to complete your choice of media.
Artwork prices are based on the media, the content and the size of the portrait.
For example, a 8" x 10" graphite pencil drawing of your pet's head and shoulders is $150. A painting in watercolor and colored pencil, the same size and subject, would be $250.
Please contact me directly for information on how much the portrait you would like to commission will cost.
I like to keep in touch with the person who commissioned the artwork and communicate usually by text or e-mail. As I start I'll send a sketch for your approval. Then will let you know when the artwork is completed by sending a text or e-mail along with a sample picture of your artwork.
If you are local, I'll be happy to arrange for pick-up or delivery. Otherwise, I will send it by US Postal Service to your specified mailing address.
